This day is International Dance Day, which was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute ITI, the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO. The date was chosen because it was the birth date of the French dancer and balletmaster, Jean-Georges Noverre, who is generally credited whose work lead to the narrative ballet form.
