White Hat regards Lyric Opera's offerings to constitute some of the more
valuable contributions to Melbourne's musical life. Mounting small scale
(and usually relatively low budget) productions, the music is usually drawn
from from the well of high quality but rarely performed (in Australia at
least) repertoire that coaxes the discerning music lover off the couch and
into the theatre.
