Melbourne Gaol
Built in 1864 this Gaol was the setting for over 130 hangings, the most infamous being that of bushranger
Ned Kelly in 1880. Others include Francis Knorr the baby murderer. Exhibiting a collection of death masks, replica of the Kelly armour, the Hangman's Box & an eclectic array of artefacts.
On Saturdays at 12.30pm and 2pm the Kelly legend comes to life in the live performance Such A Life. This performance is free and included in the entry charge. Please allow at least one hour for your visit and bring a camera along.
Night tours generally operate on selected night Mondays, Wednesday,
Fridays and Saturdays (7.30pm April-Oct and 8.30pm Nov-March). This tour
involves theatrical entertainment and admission prices are Adult: $33 (+
transaction fees); Child: $22.50 (+ transaction fees). The night tour is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. (Please note that a 20% discount applies for National Trust members.)
