Mr Eternity
	single word philosopher, social activist
	1884 - 30th July 1967
	
	 For 40 years, Arthur Stace cryptically chalked the 
	word 'Eternity' in perfect copperplate on the footpaths of Sydney and 
	elsewhere.
	A silent reminder of this inscription can be found in Sydney 
	Park - appropriately enough with no plaque or other explanation. The chalked 
	inscription mysteriously appeared on the bell in the Sydney GPO tower in 
	1963. It has remained there ever since.
	At the culmination of the millennium New Year's Eve 
	celebrations in Sydney, a giant reproduction of Stace's 'Eternity' was 
	illuminated by fireworks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
