Bringalbit
Bringalbit is a country property near Mt. Macedon retaining some of its
original remnant Peppermint Gums,
Yellow Box and Manna Gums fail to break the winds. These have been supplemented
confers, oaks, willow and poplar thickets, Monterey pines and Osage trees,
nearly all planted in the 19th century. The large trees, together with a small
creek feeding a couple of dams and the garden lake before cascading down it’s
rocky falls below the spillway forms a peaceful retreat in country Victoria.
There is a 60metre Quince Walk that delights in Spring and Autumn. Elsewhere in
the garden swathes of roses,
lavender, dianthus and gaura soak up the sun on the north facing terraces with
their silver foliage context of snow-in-summer edging. Entry $5 per person

An outdoor market in a pleasant grassed reserve featuring statewide produce including breads, olive oil, honey, fruit & vegetables. When White Hat last visited this market in July 2008 we found a good wide range of products with the fruit & vegetabls being particularly notable.
A general indoor market with long term stall and shop holders with butchers, a fishmonger, poultry, delis, dry goods, fruit and vegetables and some variety and clothing stores. 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturdays (Frid open till 7pm). On Sundays only the fruit and veg section is open (enter from rear) form 7am to 6pm.

in.cube8r gallery is a shop/gallery which runs like a long term market. It is open to anyone who makes things by hand and supports all things craft, art and hand-made in Melbourne. The gallery is divided up into glass cubicles, shelves, racks and partitions which artists can lease for a small weekly cost over a three month period. There is no commission on items sold. When Whitehat visited in June2008 we discovered a treasure trove of new upcoming artisans as well as designers like Julie Ughetti, with an international reputation. The work ranges from the quirky to sophisticated and given the diversity of art work on display you appear to be guaranteed to find eclectic original pieces.
Lost & Found is an indoor market based in a shop just off Smith Street Collingwood. It features vintage furniture, lighting, art, posters, clothes, books, records and anything collectable. Permenant and casual stalls available.

Preston market is a large market selling fresh produce, meat, poultry and fish as well as a wide range of general goods. White Hat particular recommends Preston Market if you are shopping for a family on a tight budget. It is located next to the railway station and trams, and there are several supermarkets in the complex if you need to top up on anything not sold in the market.
